Join Dr. Peijun Ma’s Lab at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (Memphis, TN, U.S.)
We are expanding rapidly and seeking passionate, self-driven postdoctoral researchers and graduate students to join our team. With exceptional research resources and funding support, our lab focuses on applying cutting-edge bacterial single-cell genomics and transcriptomics to tackle antibiotic resistance and persistence in bacterial pathogens.

Our Research Focus: We push the boundaries of microbial single-cell sequencing to explore how bacterial populations develop drug resistance and persistence. By profiling drug-induced heterogeneity at the single-cell level, we aim to uncover novel resistance mechanisms and identify potential new therapeutic targets.
Key Areas of Research:
• Investigating drug-induced bacterial heterogeneity and its impact on resistance and persistence.
• Exploring bacterial intrinsic heterogeneity, including cell cycles and cell-to-cell communication, in the development of resistance.
• Characterizing the microbiome using cutting-edge single-cell genomic and transcriptomic approaches.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Background in molecular biology, microbiology, microbiome research, or related fields.
• Experience with next-generation sequencing and computational skills is a plus but not required.
