23岁就不能买学生票了?最新回应……
A social media post has gone viral after a 23-year-old university student claimed he was unable to book a discounted student ticket for the Sanxingdui Museum due to exceeding the age limit. “I was surprised. How can 23 be too old to be a student?” the third-year student, surnamed Yang, told local media on Thursday, adding he had never encountered such an issue before.
In response, the museum’s customer service said the age cap has long been in place, explaining that the 23-year-old limit is based on the typical graduation age for university students in China.
While the age limit remains in place, museum staff emphasized that students over 23 are not entirely excluded from discounts.
These students can purchase a regular ticket, then visit the service counter with valid student documentation for on-site verification. If their student status is confirmed, the ticket price difference will be refunded, allowing them to enjoy the same discount as younger students.
Fu Jian, director of Zezhang Law Firm based in Henan, said there is no clear legal basis for setting an age limit on student discounts. The notice issued by the National Development and Reform Commission on regulating ticket pricing for state-owned scenic spots does not specify any age restrictions for student tickets, he noted.
While most university students are typically around 22 years old, age should not be the sole criterion for determining student status, Fu said. Scenic spots can verify student identities through valid documentation rather than imposing a blanket age cap, he added.
