The WeChat team has released the Android 8.0.63 beta version, following the iOS update. Though positioned as a minor patch, the release introduces several practical and user-friendly changes.

One highlight is the "Delete Chat with Undo" function. After swiping left to delete a conversation, users will now see a prompt at the bottom: "Chat with 'XXX' has been deleted." If they tap "Undo" within five seconds, the chat will be restored.

WeChat has also added a new option when deleting contacts: "Delete contact and clear chat history." By default, the box is unchecked, allowing the chat record to remain even if a contact is removed. The other party receives no notification and can still exchange messages as usual. Users can also re-add the contact directly, with the full history intact. 

Many see this as a safeguard against accidental deletions or temporary disputes.

The company also reminded users about account activity. If an account remains inactive for over a year, it may be automatically recycled. 

Once this happens, all content — including Moments, chat history, profile photos, and the WeChat ID — will be permanently erased.

To prevent data loss, WeChat recommends logging in at least once a year, backing up files, and binding a phone number or email.
