EVA Airways has suspended a pilot and launched an internal investigation after an alleged physical altercationwith a co-pilot during taxiing prior to takeoff at Los Angeles International Airport, Southern Metropolis Daily reported on Tuesday.

According to online reports cited by the outlet, the incident occurred when the co-pilot repeatedly warned the captain that the aircraft's taxiing speed might be unsafe. After the co-pilot applied the brakes in accordance with standard operating procedures, a confrontation reportedly escalated into physical violence.

EVA Air told reporters that data from the plane's quick access recorder showed the aircraft's taxispeed was within operational regulations, contradicting claims of overspeed.

The airline said it immediately launched an internal investigation and informed relevant authorities to clarify the facts. Psychological support has also been offered to the crew involved.

"Pending the outcome of the investigation, the pilot has been suspended from flight duties," EVA Air said. "Once the inquiry is complete, the case will be reviewed by a disciplinary committee. Any conduct that may affect flight safety or operational order will be handled with the utmost seriousness."
