A viral debate among Chinese high-speed rail travelers has crowned seat F the top pick in second-class carriages, while seat B is being shunned as the worst spot on the train.
Following earlier buzz over why there's no seat E, netizens now lament the plight of seat B. Sandwiched between window seat A and aisle seat C, it offers no view, no easy access to the restroom, and not even a clear armrest to call one's own — an ordeal, especially for introverted passengers.
In contrast, seat F — a window seat with just one neighbor between it and the aisle — is hailed as "firstclass within second class". It offers freedom from constant passenger disruptions and spares travelers the overhead-bin worries that plague aisle seat D.
Yet, seat F has its downsides: disputes with the passenger in front over the window shade, and the fact that it's notoriously hard to book. Still, online personality-based seating charts consistently rank F at the top, and B at the bottom.
