A viral social media stunt involving wrapping one's legs around a streetlight has led to multiple incidents of participants becoming trapped and requiring rescue.

In Taicang, Jiangsu province, a young woman identified as Song (pseudonym) attempted the trend after coming across related videos online during an evening walk. Expecting to complete the move easily, she instead found herself unable to free her legs once they became locked in position.

Police officers arrived and freed her safely, though she was temporarily unable to stand due to stiffness and numbness.

Authorities warned that such actions may cause joint and ligament injuries, restrict blood flow, and, in severe cases, lead to serious complications.

Similar incidents have been reported elsewhere. In one case, a male participant said he remained stuck for more than 30 minutes and ultimately sought help from a food delivery guy.

Online users have also expressed concern, noting that many viral challenges are designed to attract attention and may carry hidden risks, and urging others not to blindly follow such trends.
