A review of related reports shows that the conclusion of poor sale is largely based on e-commerce sales data and visits to local supermarkets. While such observations reflect certain market shifts, a more precise description may be that premium mooncakes are losing some of their appeal.
中新经纬报道称，不止传统高端品牌，五星级酒店月饼也遭遇“崩盘”。记者检索二手交易平台发现，多数五星级酒店月饼礼盒三折甩卖，价格低至200元以下。
中国连锁经营协会客座顾问、零售电商行业专家庄帅分析认为：“对于高价豪华礼盒的退潮，目前来看应该不是短期阶段性现象，而是消费者理性回归与送礼制度约束双重作用下不可逆的长期趋势。”
另有分析指出，大众对于传统月饼高糖、高油、高热量的短板认知越来越清晰，重油重糖的传统老式月饼、主打奢华定位的高端月饼，逐渐失去消费者好感。
Analysts also note that consumers are becoming increasingly aware of the high levels of sugar, fat and calories in traditional mooncakes. Heavy, old-fashioned varieties and luxury-positioned products are gradually falling out of favor with consumers.
