“出租车后备箱绑着一个人”!警方:系大学生着急赶火车求助,的哥已被处罚
A taxi driver in Yangzhou, Jiangsu province, has been penalized after a passenger was found riding in the trunk of his cab, prompting police to warn of the serious dangers of carrying people in a vehicle's cargo area.
The incident occurred around noon when the taxi driver, surnamed Zhou, was picking up passengers, with several students already in the taxi. As he was about to drive off, another student ran up and asked for a ride to catch a train. Zhou told him there was no room in the passenger compartment, but offered the trunk instead. The student agreed. Zhou then tied him with a rope inside the cramped trunk and drove away.
Traffic police later penalized Zhou for illegally carrying a passenger. His taxi company impounded the vehicle and suspended him from driving.
Police reminded the public that overloading, carrying passengers in the trunk and transporting people in the same compartment as cargo are all prohibited. A trunk is designed for goods and lacks basic safety protection. In a sudden stop or collision, a person inside could suffocate, be thrown around or suffer fatal injuries.
