A 14-year-old boy in Henan province has been diagnosed with kidney failure after losing about 98 percent of his kidney function, with doctors linking his condition in part to a diet heavy in takeout food and two to three cups of milk tea a day. Sugary drinks had largely replaced plain water in his diet.
According to Henan TV, the boy was admitted to the First Affiliated Hospital of Henan University of Chinese Medicine with impaired consciousness and suffered cardiac arrest about an hour later. Tests confirmed severe kidney dysfunction.
A survey of 5,281 university students in Beijing by researchers from Tsinghua University and the Central University of Finance and Economics found that frequent milk tea consumption was associated with psychological problems including depression and anxiety.
Nearly half of the respondents said they drank at least one cup of milk tea a week. Among them, 2.6 percent drank four to six cups a week, while 20.6 percent drank two to three cups. The findings highlight the widespread popularity of milk tea among young people.
(2)多次尝试戒断奶茶但未能成功;
(3)心情低落时倾向于喝奶茶;
(4)尽管知道不良后果仍继续消费奶茶;
(5)产生耐受性,需增加奶茶的消费量以获得期望的愉悦感;
Frequent consumption of milk tea can also contribute to excessive sugar and calorie intake. High sugar consumption has been linked to weight gain, insulin resistance and other metabolic problems, while excess fructose can increase uric acid levels and contribute to gout.
Milk tea can also contain significant amounts of caffeine, which may interfere with sleep, particularly when consumed at night. Some products may also contain trans fats, which are associated with a higher risk of cardiovascular disease.
