A building materials merchant in Jiajiang county, Sichuan province, has been ordered to take down a video after authorities confirmed it was a staged "real-name complaint" designed to attract online attention and boost sales.
The video, posted by an account named "Sichuan Naijia Ceramics — Professional Floor Tiles", claimed to be a real-name complaint that a company was not giving employees time off during the National Day holiday.
After an investigation, authorities in Jiajiang county confirmed the claim was false. The video was a fabricated scenario staged by the merchant to attract online traffic and improve sales. The account has been ordered to remove it.
A search for related keywords on the platform found that the format, a person with a plastic bag over their head holding up an ID card to make a real-name complaint, has become a templated traffic-generating script across the internet.
Such videos are not genuine rights protection efforts but staged content designed to draw traffic and drive sales, making them a typical example of online fabrication.
