10万游客涌入5万人口县城,祁连县紧急安排免费中学宿舍,文旅局回应:专门嘱咐了不要动孩子东西
On Saturday, Qilian county in Haibei Tibetan autonomous prefecture, Qinghai province, welcomed more than 100,000 visitors, filling hotels and homestays across the county. From Saturday night to the early hours of Sunday, local authorities provided public-service accommodations and successfully housed nearly 500 visitors who had been left without lodging.
Many visitors who failed to find lodging after hours of searching contacted local tourism authorities, who arranged free accommodations in student dormitories. Some praised the quick, well-organized response and shared photos online to thank officials — though others questioned whether students had been consulted about the arrangement.
In response to concerns raised by netizens, a local tourism official said she personally led staff in packing and organizing all of the students' belongings before making the beds with new bedding provided by the emergency management department.
"When visitors checked in, we made sure to remind each of them not to touch the students' belongings," she said. "So far, more than 90 percent of the visitors have been very considerate and well-behaved."
Qilian county's peak tourist season typically falls in July and August. However, the online buzz surrounding the local No 9 Highway this year attracted large numbers of visitors during the National Day holiday.
On Sunday morning, Qilian county's tourism authorities issued an updated travel advisory on their official social media account. On Saturday, nearly 35,000 vehicles entered the county, while all 400-plus hotels and homestays were fully booked. Nearly 500 visitors were accommodated in public-service beds. As accommodation remains limited, visitors who have difficulty finding a place to stay are advised to call 0970-8672109, 8676625 or 8676879 to reserve a public-service bed or to adjust their travel plans.
