It began in AI-generated street-food dramas. The plot is usually the same. An honest vendor keeps using good ingredients despite rising costs. A rival cuts corners and wins over most customers with lower prices. The few loyal diners explain their choice with the line: "It's a bit expensive, but it doesn't burn my heart." The rival then faces a food-safety scandal, while the principled vendor prospers.

Medically, heartburn is a burning sensation behind the breastbone that can rise toward the throat.

It is not the same as bloating or a routine stomachache. About half of sufferers also experience regurgitation — stomach contents flowing back toward the throat or mouth, sometimes leaving a sour or food-like taste. Both are typical of gastroesophageal reflux disease(GERD).

Heartburn has many triggers. Acidic foods, alcohol, chocolate, coffee, high-fat meals, mint, and spicy dishes can all trigger or worsen it on their own.

So can lying down too soon after a heavy meal. Smaller portions and waiting two to three hours before reclining can help.

Almost everyone experiences reflux occasionally. The risk is higher for people who are overweight or obese, pregnant, or exposed to smoking.

In everyday use, it can describe a pricier restaurant that is dependable, a job that feels fair, a cat that is easy to live with, or a tourist spot that lives up to its billing. Its opposite suggests annoyance, disappointment, or a sense of being ripped off.

I had too much spicy hot pot, and now I've got heartburn.(火锅吃太辣,现在有点烧心。)

把“吃了不烧心”直译为 "It may cost more, but it won't give you heartburn."

"Heartburn" is a pun here. Literally, it means acid reflux; figuratively, it means feeling annoyed or cheated.

- reliable / solid(靠谱、稳)

- honest / no gimmicks(实在、没花招)

- no nasty surprises(不踩雷、不坑人)

- worth every penny(贵得值)

It was a pricier tour, but there were no gimmicks and no nasty surprises. It's worth every penny.
