Starbucks says you're going to have to buy a drink to sit around at their stores
Image
其中,sit around就是“闲坐、待着不走”,buy a drink to sit around at their stores可以说是“消费入座”的委婉表述。
Buy something or leave, Starbucks says
Image
其中or相当于if not,意思是“否则,要不然”。
这一结构在英语里还有不少,比如 take it or leave it(接受就接受,不接受拉倒),shape up or ship out(好好表现,否则走人)。
Buy something or leave

The theatre has seating for about 500 people.

No outside food or beverages. Seating is for paying customers only.

China Daily
Starbucks China rolls out purchase-required seating, plans 300m yuan store upgrade
Image

Starbucks China will introduce a purchase-required seating policynationwide from Oct 22 while investing more than 300 million yuan ($44.9 million) in fiscal year 2027 to upgrade its in-store experience, as the coffee chain seeks to reinforce its premium positioning amid intensifying competition. The new policy, which requires customers to make a purchase before using store seating, has drawn widespread public attention.

Introduce a purchase-required seating policy
Make a purchase before using store seating
