Logitech, a Swiss company focused on computer peripherals, is facing renewed criticism in China after a promotional post linked to one of its store accounts was widely condemned as demeaning to customers.
Screenshots shared by internet users showed a post published on a social platform by the official account of Logitech. The image featured a cartoon dog meme that showed no interest in "100 yuan off" but lit up at "40 percent off after coupon", saying, "You really know people."
Many internet users read the exchange as implying that shoppers behave like dogs. The disputed content could no longer be found as of Monday.
Asked about the matter, customer service apologized for the "poor experience", said an investigation was underway, and added that Logitech respects every player.
The company's official customer-service account said that it was sorry its authorized store had posted the controversial video, would log the complaint and investigate, and could penalize the merchant if the content was verified, calling insults to users "a very serious matter".
This marks the second such marketing controversy for Logitech this year. In March, a promotion for the GPW3, the third-generation model in Logitech's GPW gaming mouse line, carried the line "When I cut the price, don't you come running over like a dog", triggering widespread anger.
