多所高校明确：部分研究生不予安排住宿

Peking University explicitly stated that it will no longer provide accommodation for its postgraduate students who apply for professional degree, while Xiamen University gave the same response for its part-time postgraduate students. These decisions have been met with both support and criticism, with the latter being that great inconvenience is caused for those who cannot afford their own private housing or face difficulty finding affordable accommodation near the university campuses.

专业型硕士（professional degree）是中国独有的一种学位类型，与之对应的是学术型学位（academic degree），前者以专业实践为导向，重视职业实践和应用，后者以学术研究为导向，偏重理论和研究。
The main difference between the two can be exerted in the fact that an academic degree prepares students for research-oriented careers. In contrast, a professional degree prepares students for careers in specific fields.

Chu Zhaohui, a researcher at the National Institute of Education Sciences, said that the decision to not provide accommodation for specific groups of postgraduate students is based on two main factors: limited accommodation resources and the fact that postgraduate students are considered adults.
Feng Shuaizhang, the dean of the Institute for Economic and Social Research (IESR) at Jinan University, emphasizes the need for universities to ensure an inclusive study environment. He suggests that universities improve their management abilities to tackle the problem.
