Teenage star Lin Shidong came back from 3-1 down to defeat six-time Olympic table tennis gold medalist Ma Long in the final of the inaugural China Smash on Sunday. After the match, Ma Long's comment, "This time, I didn’t lose," went viral online, sparking widespread attention.

This grueling seven-game battle ended with Lin Shidong's ultimate victory, representing new hope for the Chinese national table tennis team. However, the match also showcased the resilience and tenacity of a veteran player from the Chinese team.

Ma Long said: "I don't feel like I lost this match. When I was in my twenties, I dreamed of standing as the victor at the end of every competition. But now, I feel that just being able to stand on this stage is already a success. Reaching the final has already exceeded my expectations."
He continued, "In my past matches, there were moments of both failure and success. But at this moment, I feel I can leave the court with a smile."

Many netizens commented, saying that Ma Long has reached a point where he no longer needs championships to prove himself: "You didn’t fail; you are a legend."
