The official Weibo account of Flourished Peony issued an apology on Monday morning.

The apology statement mentioned that Flourished Peony is a project that has involved the hard work of many individuals. The creative team, with a deep respect for history, conducted thorough research, sought guidance from experts and scholars, and referenced a wealth of professional materials.

"Some character designs in the show were inspired by the book China Fashion for authenticity. Regrettably, during our research, certain academic diagrams were mistakenly identified as historical reconstructions, leading to misunderstandings. The book meticulously details Tang Dynasty women's styles and makeup, offering invaluable insights for our production. The creative team extends thanks to the book's author, Zuo Qiumeng, and illustrator Mo Chun," the official account said.
