双语君约 4 分钟The US Coast Guard's final report on Titan submersible that imploded during a dive to the Titanic concluded that the fatal disaster resulted from a series of safety and design failures.
The board found that OceanGate failed to investigate and address known hull anomalies following its 2022 Titanic expedition. It said data from Titan's realtime monitoring system should have been analyzed and acted on during that expedition.
It also criticized OceanGate for failing to properly store the Titan before the 2023 Titanic expedition.
Jason Neubauer of the Marine Board of Investigation said the findings will help avoid future tragedies. "There is a need for stronger oversight and clear options for operators who are exploring new concepts outside of the existing regulatory framework," he said in a statement.

The Titan sub began its dive to the Titanic, which lies 3,800 m (12,467ft) down in the Atlantic Ocean, on the morning of 18 June 2023. the sub imploded around 90 minutes into its descent towards the wreckage of the Titanic in the Atlantic Ocean. All five people on board were killed, including three paying passengers.
The Titan victims are: OceanGate chief executive and Titan pilot Stockton Rush; two members of a prominent Pakistani family, Shahzada Dawood and his son Suleman Dawood; British adventurer Hamish Harding; and Titanic expert Paul-Henri Nargeolet.

The expeditions, which cost $250,000 per person, start in St. John's, Newfoundland, before heading out approximately 400 miles (640 km) into the Atlantic to the wreckage site, according to OceanGate's website.
