Nobody, one of the summer's box-office hits, has raked in more than 300 million yuan within just seven days of its release. The animated feature has also garnered strong word-of-mouth online, earning widespread praise from audiences across major platforms.

据介绍，2023年，动画短片集《中国奇谭》的首部短片《小妖怪的夏天》中，那个在浪浪山辛苦“打工”的小猪妖，曾让无数人感动落泪。

8月2日，原班主创打造的动画电影《浪浪山小妖怪》上映，讲述了发生在“平行时空”的全新故事：小猪妖、蛤蟆精、黄鼠狼精、猩猩怪四只无名小妖假扮唐僧师徒，前往西天取经的荒诞喜剧之旅。

The film, a spin-off of one of the eight stand-alone short stories from the Yao — Chinese Folktales anthology, follows the adventures of four grassroots monsters: a pig, a toad, a chimpanzee, and a mink.

Disguised as the Buddhist monk Xuanzang and his three disciples — including the iconic Monkey King from the 16th-century classic Journey to the West — they embark on a quest to obtain sacred Buddhist scrolls in hopes of achieving immortality.

电影的英文译名为“Nobody”，导演於水在接受采访时回应称“Nobody”意为“小人物”或“无名之辈”。这一译名呼应了影片中四个没有名字的小妖怪的设定。

不少网友表示，电影很真实，拿公鸡画师这段剧情为例，仿佛见到了“打工人”的日常。

Many viewers have praised the film's grounded and relatable humor. One memorable scene involving a rooster artist, for example, resonated with audiences as a reflection of the everyday struggles of working people.

导演回应

近日，《浪浪山小妖怪》电影导演、编剧於水在接受央视采访时，回答了关于人物设定的问题。

他表示，《西游记》原著中，有妖怪试图取代唐僧一行去取经的桥段，这也成为他创作的起点。

为什么没有给小妖起名字？於水表示曾经想给他们起名字，但是怎么起都“不太对”，不如就没有名字，因为我们都是芸芸众生。“我们就是想通过这四个人，把主要人群囊括进来，争取每个人在里面，都能看到自己。”

In an interview with CCTV, director and screenwriter Yu Shui explained his decision to leave the main characters nameless. He said Journey to the West contains a chapter where monsters attempt to replace Xuanzang's group to obtain the scriptures — an idea that inspired the film.

Yu noted that the characters were left nameless so audiences could see themselves in them: "We are all part of the masses."

The film has also sparked an unusual legal discussion online. On Wednesday, legal scholar Luo Xiang posted an analysis asking whether, if the little monsters were subject to real-world law, could they be guilty of impersonating Xuanzang and his disciples — particularly the Tang Dynasty (618-907)'s officially recognized monk.
