As videos and images of Sinkins went viral on RedNote, with people posting about an “elegance overload”, he was dubbed a “Ferrari” – a Chinese internet slang term used to refer to something or someone that, despite being old, has remained cool.
“Mr Ferrari”-related hashtags have been viewed more than 20 million times on RedNote, and Sinkins was interviewed by local media at the World Games.
“I don't know what to say; I am quite shocked about the whole situation,” he told local media.
One RedNote account appearing to be Sinkins has been created on the platform, posting images of the 55-year-old and thanking Chinese fans for their support.
The page has already gained more than 24,000 followers, but the Post has been unable to verify if it belongs to Sinkins.
On Instagram, Chinese users have flooded the comments on his page.
“Since Ferraris hold their value so well, it's like saying that even though you're getting older, you still look incredibly handsome and charming, just like a timeless classic,” one user said.
Another said: “Sir, you became really hot on Chinese social media with those gorgeous photos in a black suit.”
And another comment said: “I came across your photo on Xiaohongshu and was impressed, so I came to see your profile. You have such a wonderful presence – very elegant.”
