There was an explosive rise in computing power hardware, a wave of limit-ups in precious metals, and a significant decline in oil and gas stocks.

Asian markets surged on Wednesday.
South Korea led the gains, with the Kospi soaring 5.3 percent and the smaller Kosdaq advancing 3.4 percent. Major stocks Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix rallied more than 8 percent and 9 percent, respectively.
Japan's Nikkei 225 extended its rally to 4.5 percent, while the Topix climbed 3.2 percent.
